STAMFORD, Conn. - One lane of traffic from Broad to Forest streets was blocked off Tuesday after a van hit a utility pole on Grove Street. Crews from CL&P were on scene of the accident.

There were limited power outages, which police said should be restored soon.

Police said the driver of the van was not from Stamford and did not have a license. He was charged with several traffic violations, police said, but didn't give specifics.

The driver told police he was forced off the road and into the pole.
