STAMFORD, Conn. — Two Stamford men were arrested on drug charges after they were stopped for running a stop sign, Sgt. Paul Vaccaro said.
The department’s Neighborhood Impact Unit was doing surveillance on Manhattan Street, when they saw one of the suspects approach a man in a parking lot, hand him money, and leave, Vaccaro said. The man who received the money also left the lot, Vaccaro said.
Officers pulled over the silver Mazda the suspects were in after it did not stop at a stop sign, he said.
The suspects had about $30 worth of crack cocaine on them, Vaccaro said. One suspect, Jairo Morales, 20, admitted that the man in the parking lot sold it to them, the sergeant said.
Morales was charged with possession of narcotics and conspiracy of possession of narcotics, police said.
The other suspect, Eddy Murales-Oliva, 30, who was driving the vehicle, was charged with possession of narcotics, failure to obey a stop sign, and operate a motor vehicle without a license, police said.
Both were held on $1,000 bonds and are scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 2, police said.
