Cops: Snow Shoveling Turned Violent In Stamford

STAMFORD, Conn. — A Stamford man is accused of breach of peace after police said he hit another with a shovel while clearing snow over the weekend.

During an argument, two men began pushing and shoving each other, and the suspect John Carr, 56, hit the other in the head with a shovel, Sgt. Rich Barbagallo said. Carr told police the argument began over where the victim was placing the snow he shoveled, Barbagallo said.

Several neighbors witnessed the incident and confirmed the victim’s story, the sergeant said. The victim’s mother lives in the neighborhood and he was shoveling for her, Barbagallo said.

The suspect told police that he has been having problems with the victim for several years, which led him to lose his temper, the sergeant said.

The police report did not describe any injuries to the victim, Barbagallo said.

Carr is expected to be charged with second-degree breach of peace, police said.
