And that hunch proved correct when they finally were able to spot an overnight construction worker shoving two packages of Calvin Klein T-shirts down his pants, police said.
Victor David Montalvo, 45, of 689 Boston Ave., Bridgeport, was charged with sixth-degree larceny and engaging in a police pursuit in connection with the thefts, police said.
At about 3 a.m., the asset protection manager confronted Montalvo after he was seen grabbing the T-shirts, police said. The worker pushed past her and left the building by the service elevator, police said.
He dropped the two packages in the elevator and drove away from the scene and up Long Ridge Road, police said.
Montalvo didn't initially stop as police followed him, but he eventually did so on Long Ridge Road near the Merritt Parkway, police said.
There was no information on his bond or court date, police said.
