Cash Stolen From Stamford Restaurant's ATM

STAMFORD, Conn. — A “substantial amount” of cash was stolen from the ATM machine at the Crab Shell Seafood Restaurant in Stamford Wednesday morning, Lt. Diedrich Hohn said.

A man wearing a mask and gloves, entered a front vestibule after smashing through a window to gain access to the machine, he said. The suspect then used a tool to open up the lock and expose the cash, Hohn said.

Police do have security footage, but can’t get much because of the mask and gloves, he said.

The incident took place at 4 a.m. and lasted about 15 minutes, the lieutenant said.
