STAMFORD, Conn. -- A popular sliding event in Stamford on Sunday turned out to be not so fun-filled for a few vehicle owners after police ticketed and towed 15 vehicles early Sunday because they were in a no parking zone, police said.

At the annual Slide the City event held Sunday, people were able to slide down Prospect Street on a 1,000-foot water slide.

Signs warned motor vehicle owners in the area that it was a no parking zone and towing would be enforced. Those signs were posted at least 24 hours in advance.

However, the 15 motorists who decided to disregard the signs and parked on Prospect Street anyway awoke to find their vehicles towed and will have to pay up.
