STAMFORD, Conn. -- A suspected car thief thwarted his own plans by falling asleep before getting away on Sunday morning, July 31, in Stamford, according to the Stamford Advocate.
Police arrived at Courtland Circle after a man reported a stranger sleeping in his brother's car. Just after 3 a.m. officers found a man asleep at the wheel, according to the Stamford Advocate.
Marcelo Visbeo-Arpi, 29, of Charles Street, smelled of alcohol and had pulled out the wires necessary to steal the car but was found sleeping with the seat fully reclined. Visbeo-Arpi was charged with criminal mischief, burglary and attempted larceny. He was held on a $10,000 court appearance bond and had no explanation for why he was in the car, according to the Stamford Advocate.
