Police charged Kevin Sanchez, 18, of Englewood Avenue, Bridgeport, with second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, carrying a dangerous weapon and criminal trespass.

Police said he gave a videotaped statement admitting to shooting the BB gun and striking the teenager.

His younger brother, Erick Sanchez, also 18, of Tresser Boulevard, was charged with carrying a dangerous weapon, reckless endangerment, attempted second-degree assault and criminal trespass.

Bond was set at $500 each for the brothers.

The 13-year-old boy was walking on West Broad Street at about 10 p.m. Saturday with a female relative when he felt something strike him in the buttocks, police said. The woman said she heard a couple of popping sounds, Sgt. Robert Shawinsky said.

They returned home, told a parent and went to Stamford Hospital, police said. The hospital called police after learning what happened.

It wasn't clear in the police report whether the BB pellet had struck his skin.

Police received a separate 911 call from someone saying youths behind Cloonan Middle School were firing a weapon at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday. The school is about a block from where the teen was struck with the pellet, police said.

Officers arrested the brothers at the school and seized the weapon, police said. No description of the weapon was available.
