Bridgeport Police Recover Vehicle, ID Suspect In Attempted Abduction

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- The Bridgeport Police Department identified a suspect and recovered the vehicle used in the attempted abduction of a teenage girl on Monday morning.

"We have had an outstanding response from the Bridgeport and New Haven community," Assistant Chief Nardozzi said in a statement. "Information from the community led us to the discovery of the vehicle." 

Officials did not provide a name of the suspect, only that she is from New Haven.

The incident took place at 7:15 a.m. near the corner of Boston and Palisade Avenues as the girl was walking to school, police said.

The driver of a charcoal gray Toyota Yaris attempted to lure the victim into the vehicle, police said. Once the victim was in the car, she was assaulted by the driver, police said.

The victim was able to bail out of the vehicle while it was traveling on Boston Avenue, police said. The suspect then made a U-turn and traveled east on Boston Avenue toward Stratford, police said. Read more about the abduction attempt here on the Daily Voice.
