Bridgeport Burglar Who Targets Indian Families Charged In Darien Burglary

DARIEN, Conn. — A Bridgeport career criminal currently serving time in New York on a burglary conviction was extradited back to Connecticut where he was arraigned on charges stemming from a 2013 burglary in Darien, according to the Stamford Advocate.

Dirk Lloyd, 39, has been linked to several burglaries targeting families of Indian descent, according to the Stamford Advocate.

On Tuesday he was arraigned on third-degree burglary and first-degree larceny charges in connection with the November 2013 burglary where $180,000 worth of gold, jewelry and other items was taken from a West Avenue home in Darien, the Stamford Advocate reported. The homeowners were also of Indian descent, according to the Stamford Advocate.

Lloyd, who did not enter a plea Tuesday, has been convicted of several burglaries in New York over the past 20 years, the Stamford Advocate reported. DNA has linked him to burglaries in Nassau County from 2009 and 2011, and he was charged in 2014 with a 2010 burglary in Schenectady, N.Y., according to the Stamford Advocate. In all cases, the homeowners were of Indian descent, according to the Stamford Advocate.

Norwalk Police have also identified Lloyd as a suspect in a burglary of an Indian family's home, the Stamford Advocate reported.
