2 Gunmen Fire Into Crowd At Stamford Park; One Victim Hospitalized

STAMFORD, Conn. — A man was shot in the arm when two men fired a gun through a fence at Hatchfield Park in Stamford, taking aim at a crowd gathered late Saturday night, police said.

A 10:42 p.m., the shooting was reported at the park on Richmond Hill Avenue, police said. 

Two men approached from Richmond Hill Avenue and fired a weapon through a fence outside of the park, police said.

Witnesses said the two males, wearing dark-colored hoodies, fired into a crowd, striking the victim and sending the others running for cover, police said.

Two occupied apartments were struck by errant gunfire, but the occupants were not hit, police said.

A 35-year-old Wethersfield resident who was visiting friends in the park was struck in the left forearm with a bullet, police said. 

He was rushed to Stamford Hospital, where he underwent surgery for his injuries, police said. 

He was admitted to Stamford Hospital and was in stable condition, police said.

The Stamford Police Department responded and processed several crime scenes, police said.

The investigation is active and ongoing, police said. Anyone with any information on the identity of the shooters is asked to call the Stamford Police Department's Detective Bureau at 203-977-4417. All calls will be confidential.
