Zelotes Young, 89, Longtime Stamford Resident

Zelotes Young

STAMFORD, Conn. – Zelotes Young, a longtime Stamford resident, died Oct. 18 at Stamford Hospital. She was 89.

Young was born Nov. 25, 1923, in St. James, Jamaica, to Calvin Palmer and Estriana Mourray Palmer. She immigrated to the U.S. 24 years ago and settled in Stamford. She enjoyed babysitting her many great-grandchildren, spending time with her family and cooking. Above all else, she loved her church, the Church of God in Stamford.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph Young, of Stamford; two children, Cloverlyn White and Albert Jones, of Kingston, Jamaica; two stepchildren, Ronnie Gordon, of Stamford, and Derrick Young, of Miami, Fla.; 18 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Calling hours are from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Bosak Funeral Home in Stamford. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Interment will be at Dovecot Cemetery in St. Catherine, Jamaica.
