STAMFORD, Conn. -- William L. Paris, 71, a Stamford native, died Thursday, Aug. 27.

He was born on July 10, 1944, in Stamford, the son of Charles A. Paris and Grace V. Woodruff Paris.

He served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps and received several commendations for his service. He was employed with the U.S. Postal Service for a number of years until retirement.

He is survived by his son, William Scott Paris Sr. (Cynthia); three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Lucy Quillen (Joseph) and Mary L. Bryan; one brother, Charles B. Paris; a son-in-law, Samuel White Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Lyn Paris White.

Calling hours held on Wednesday, Sept. 2, from 10 a.m. to noon at Faith Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, 29 Grove St., Stamford. A service of celebration will begin at noon with the Rev. Tommie Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Downer Funeral Home.
