STAMFORD, Conn. – William Gregory Byrnes, of Stamford, died at Stamford Hospital on Friday, April 8. He was 84.
Byrnes was born on Nov. 18, 1931 to Patrick J. and Elizabeth Byrnes, graduating from Fairfield University and the University of Bridgeport.
He worked as a social studies teacher and class advisor at Rippowam High School and Stamford High School until retiring in 1992.
Byrnes was predeceased by his parents, brother Patrick and two sisters, Elizabeth and Rita.
He is survived by wife Rosemarie, son Gregory and his wife Lauren, daughter Anmarie Galgano and her husband Tom, three grandchildren, sister Anna Byrnes, four nephews, a niece and their families.
A funeral mass will be on Tuesday, April 12 at 10 a.m. at St. Leo's Church, located at 24 Roxbury Road in Stamford.
Arrangements will be handled by the Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
