SHELTON, Conn. - William (Bill) Eaton of Shelton, a longtime Stamford resident, died June 20. He was 88.
Eaton was born Feb. 21, 1926, in Newburyport, Mass., and was the son of Stephen and Gertrude (Smith) Eaton. He served in the Army Branch of the United States Armed forces during the Korean War and retired in 1953 as a sergeant. He worked as a plumber and pipefitter for over 30 years and was a member of Local 777. He worked for A. Jessup and Sons, Johnson and Sons, and Lockwood and Sons and retired in 1987.
He was a long time resident of Stamford before moving his family to Shelton in 1977 and lived there until 2004. When his wife Beverly retired they relocated to Vero Beach, Fla., for the winters and Terryville, in the summers. He then relocated with his wife back to Shelton in 2012 to be closer to the family.
Eaton is survived by his daughters, Jacqueline Whipple (James) of Shelton, Wendy Jolls (Christopher) of Milford and Michele Lefer (Adam) of Monroe; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Beverly (Haupt) Eaton; infant daughter, Dawn Eaton; parents; sister, Gertrude; and brothers, Gunther, John and George.
Interment services for both William and Beverly will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 12 at Lake View Cemetery, 352 Main St., New Canaan, with a Memorial Service and celebration of their lives at 1:30 p.m. at Riverdale Restaurant, 521 River Road, Shelton, their favorite restaurant.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
