FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Virginia Benson of Fairfield died Saturday, May 11. She was 90.
Benson was born Dec. 15, 1922, in Bridgeport. She had been a Fairfield resident for more than 40 years. She served in the U.S. Navy W.A.V.E.S. during World War II. She retired as an executive secretary from GTE in Stamford. She was a member of the St. Thomas Seniors.
Benson is survived by her son, daughter and many cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. meeting directly at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 1719 Post Road, Fairfield. Interment with military honors will follow in Mount St. Peter Cemetery, Derby.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Kennedy Center, 2440 Reservoir Ave., Trumbull, CT 06611.
