Vincent Hatterman, 68, Former Stamford Police Officer

STAMFORD, Conn. – Vincent James Hatterman, a lifelong resident of Stamford and a 20-year veteran of the Stamford Police Department, died Jan. 4. He was 68.

He was born July 14, 1944, to Henry and Gertrude Pelosi Hatterman. Raised in the Glenbrook section of Stamford, Hatterman was an avid gardener. He spent much time tending to his vegetables each summer and took pleasure in delivering his harvests to friends and family.

He also enjoyed trips to the casinos and reveled in the sound of the slot machines when he "took a ride" with his wife, his family said. He liked to tell stories and had a penchant for practical jokes. He most enjoyed spending time with his two grandchildren, Cal and Daisy.

Hatterman is survived by his wife, Connie Colello Hatterman; two daughters, Beth Hatterman (Brian) Gillin and Jaime Hatterman (Chris) Lombardi, both of Stamford; and a brother, Henry Hatterman, of Warne, N.C.

Visitation is 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home and Crematory in Stamford, with services at 7 p.m. A funeral procession will leave at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday for a graveside service at 1 p.m. at St. John's Cemetery in Darien.
