Victor V. Vakassian, 71, Of Stamford, Teacher At Westhill High School

STAMFORD, Conn. - Victor V. Vakassian, a long time resident of Stamford, died Friday, Aug. 2. He was 71.

Vakassian was born May 19, 1942, to John and Alyce Vakassian of Grand Concourse, Bronx, New York and later Rye, N.Y. He earned his bachelor's degree at the University of Bridgeport and his Masters at Southern Connecticut University in New Haven. He taught foreign language at Westhill High School until his retirement in 1989 when he launched himself into a long and successful second career in home improvement.

Vakassian is survived by his wife, Harriet Sachs Vakassian of Stamford and Westerly, R.I.; children, Marc Vakassian (Stacy), Jeffrey Vakassian (Barbara); and four grandchildren.

Memorial Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6 at Leo P. Gallagher & Son 2900 Summer St. in Stamford. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx.
