Theresa Bologna Zadrosny, 97, Owned Melfair Market In Stamford

RIVERSIDE, Conn. - Theresa “Tess” Bologna Zadrosny, a resident of Riverside, died April 11. She was 97.

Zadrosny was born March 9, 1917, in Port Chester, N.Y., and moved to Greenwich at 10 months old. She was the daughter of Mariantonia D’Andrea Bologna and Nicholas Bologna. She grew up in Cos Cob and graduated from Greenwich High School in 1936. She worked at Dutchland Farms, later the Clam Box. She worked with her husband in their meat and grocery store, Melfair Market in Stamford.

In 1967 they sold their business and she became a volunteer in the Greenwich community. She served one term as president of the Cos Cob Fire Company Auxiliary, 11 years as president of the Women’s Guild at St Catherine’s and chaired the annual St. Catherine’s Carnival Raffle for over 20 years. She was a volunteer at Greenwich Hospital for over 25 years, retiring from her gift shop in 2013. She also volunteered at Hill House and Nathaniel Witherell Nursing Home.

Zadrosny is survived by her daughter, Marianne Zadrosny Morelli (Robert) of Old Greenwich; son, Joseph M. Zadrosny (Eileen) of Colchester, Vt.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Katherine Rich and Rosemary “Babe” Genovese of Riverside; brother, Vincent Bologna of Norwalk (Theresa) of Riverside; many nieces, nephews; godchildren; and friends. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Michael; and brother, Anthony W. Bologna, Sr. of Cos Cob.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday April 21, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 4 Riverside Avenue, Riverside, Connecticut. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, North Street, Greenwich. A luncheon reception will follow the services at The James and Catherine Lucey Parish Hall at St. Catherine’s Church.
