Theodore 'Teddy' Guzda, 91, Of Stamford

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Theodore "Teddy" Guzda, 91, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 15, 2015.

He was born Feb. 1, 1924, in Stamford, to Michael and Caroline Guzda.

He attended Stamford schools, was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Church and the Police Anchor Club. He retired from the Stamford Police Department in 1989 after serving 32 years.

He was a loyal volunteer and instrumental in the creation of Curtain Call, Inc. Guzda served in the U.S. Navy from 1942-51 and was aboard the PC552 during the D-Day invasion at Normandy Beach and then later aboard the USS Robert McCard.

He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Helen Pietka Guzda and four brothers, Frank, Stanley, Matthew, Chester and Henry; and one sister, Edna Kaminski.

He is survived by his four children, Paul Guzda, Nancy Guzda, both of Stamford, Laurie Guzda of Hawley, Pa. and Steven Guzda of New Fairfield. He is also survived by Linda Guzda, Michelle Guzda, six grandchildren, Jason Stoll, Todd Guzda, Tim Guzda, Eric Guzda, Connor Guzda and Jillian Guzda; and four great-grandchildren, Sam Guzda, Livia Guzda, Tyler and Zach Guzda.

Family will receive relatives and friends from 8-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Bozak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Ave., Stamford.

A burial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 4 Pulaski St., Stamford. Interment will follow at St John RC Cemetery, Darien.
