STAMFORD, Conn. -- Sylvia Sofia Martinsen, 90, passed away peacefully July 29, 2015 in her son's home in Litchfield.
Born in 1924 in Norway, she lived in Nazi-occupied Norway as a teenager, and came to the United States in 1950 with her husband, Harold (who died in 1991), her son, mother, father, and three brothers.
She is survived by her son Tom, her daughter Grace, and her brothers, Sverre, Roy and Kjell in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Norway, respectively.
She lived most of her life in Stamford, where she attended and served at Bethany church on Scofieldtown Road.
There will be a funeral service at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bouton & Reynolds Funeral Home, 2900 Summer St., Stamford.
