Stanley Horyczun, 94, Lifelong Stamford Resident

Stanley Horyczun

STAMFORD, Conn. – Stanley J. Horyczun, a lifelong Stamford resident, died Oct. 14. He was 94. 

The son of George Horyczun and Bernice Popp Horyczun, he was born April 21, 1918. He graduated from Stamford High School and worked as a sheet metal worker. Horyczun was employed by Durkee Sheet Metal Co. and was a member of the Local 28 Sheet Metal Workers Union. 

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army's 468 Engineer Division, rising to the rank of staff sergeant. He was stationed in the Aleutian Islands. 

Horyczun is survived by two nieces, Andrea H. Curley and Dr. Victoria H. Raveis, both of Maplewood, N.J.; and a nephew, Michael G. Horyczun, of Trumbull. He was predeceased by a sister, Josephine Horyczun; and two brothers, Andrew Horyczun and Joseph Horyczun. 

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Wednesday at St. Maurice Church in Stamford. Bosak Funeral Home in Stamford handled the arrangements.
