Stanley B. Tyska, 84, Stamford Native

NORWALK, Conn. -- Stanley B. Tyska, 84, a longtime resident of Norwalk and beloved husband of Lillian Spoto Tyska, died July 27 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born May 8, 1931, in Stamford, to the late Benjamin and Stella Tyska. A 1950 graduate of Stamford High School, he went on to attend Bridgeport University, graduating with a degree in engineering.

He then began his career as a product designer for 35 years at Pitney Bowes before retiring in 1988.

Tyska was a veteran of the U.S. Army and belonged to many organizations, such as the Elks, American Legion and New Horizons of Saint Matthew’s Parish.

Tyska is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lillian Tyska; daughter Cathy Smith; son Robert Tyska and wife Theresa, three granddaughters Elise Smith, Jessica Salvato and husband Jon, Danielle Smith and great grandson Hunter Salvato. He also is survived by his sisters-in-law Elizabeth DeLuca and husband Raymond, Joann Miller and husband Ron, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Friends and family may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 E. Wall St., Norwalk.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Saint Matthew’s Parish, 216 Scribner Ave., Norwalk. Entombment will follow at Saint John’s Mausoleum on Richards Avenue in Norwalk.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Saint Matthew’s Parish in his memory.
