Salvatore Pirolozzi, 49, Stamford Landscaper

STAMFORD, Conn. – Salvatore Pirolozzi of Stamford died Oct. 7, surrounded by his family. He was 49. 

He was born Dec. 14, 1962, in Stamford to Stefano Pirolozzi and Maria Carmina Darienzo Raus. He attended Stamford public schools and graduated from Stamford High School. A self-employed landscaper, Pirolozzi was passionate about baseball, in which he excelled as a kid with the Bobby Valentine Little League. He was also an avid New York Yankees fan. 

He is survived by his mother, Maria Carmina (Angelo) Raus; his father, Stefano Pirolozzi; his great-grandmother, Maria D'Arienzo; two sisters, Maria Gentile and Sandra Spadaccini; and five nieces, a nephew and many aunts, uncles and cousins in Italy. 

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home and Crematory in Stamford. A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:20 a.m. Thursday for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at Sacred Heart Church in Stamford. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Mausoleum at St. Mary Cemetery in Greenwich. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Catholic Charities Community Services, Traumatic Brain Injury Department, 1945 E. Ridge Road, Rochester, NY 14622.
