Born on April 18, 1926, in Darien, Connecticut, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Portonova) Sarni. She worked for the Morris Plan Bank, Pitney Bowes and for many years was a teacher's aide at the Springdale School. She had a wonderful sense of humor, as well as a love for music and the New York Yankees.
She is survived by her children, Barbara Siladi and her husband, Kim; Gary Furtak and his wife, Marilyn; and Fred Furtak and his wife, Jiji; seven grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; a brother of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 36 years, Frederick John Furtak Sr.; two brothers; and six sisters.
The family will receive friends Sunday, March 8, from 4-8 p.m. at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien. Services and burial will be private.
