STAMFORD, Conn. -- Stamford resident Roland Sykes died Thursday, Jan. 21. He was 65.
Born in Fayetteville, N.C., Sykes held various jobs in carpentry, irrigation, landscaping and plumbing.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Carroll; his daughters, Omesha Hall and Anita Richardson; his sisters, Pauline Sykes Williams, Berlene Sykes-Kenion and Araula Sykes-Abdelaal; his brothers, Horace Sykes and Walter Lee Sykes; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Sykes was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Odessa Armstrong Sykes, and brothers, Winston Sykes, Arthur Lee and Jessie Lee Armstrong.
Visiting hours will be held from 2-3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, followed by a service at 3 p.m., at Downer Funeral Home, 31 Stillwater Ave., Stamford. Minister Hervey Smith will officiate. Interment will be private.
