FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Robert A. Okerblom of Fairfield died Tuesday, May 28. He was 75.

Okerblom was born July 14, 1937, in Bridgeport, son of Andrew and Flora Okerblom, and had been a Fairfield resident for most of his life. He served in the U.S. Army stationed at Fort Myer, Arlington, Va., where he served on the Honor Guard for the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery. He worked for many years at Fritz and Hawley Opticians in Bridgeport. He served as a special police officer for the Town of Fairfield, and worked as a security officer at Handy & Harmon and at Clearwater Security in Stamford.

Okerblom is survived by his wife, Shirley; twin daughters, Christine Engel (Jeff) and Karen Lopes (Rui) of Fairfield; and five grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents.

Calling hours are Thursday, May 30 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, May 31 at 10 a.m. meeting directly at St. Pius X Church, 834 Brookside Dr., Fairfield. Interment will be private.
