Robert M. Skelly, 85, Formerly Of Stamford, Navy Veteran

STAMFORD, Conn. - Robert M. Skelly, formerly of Stamford, died Monday, Aug. 12. He was 85.

Skelly was born Jan. 20, 1928, in Albany, N.Y., to John and Gertrude (Welch) Skelly. He grew up in Albany, where he attended Vincentian Institute, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Siena College. He served in the United States Navy from 1946 to 1947. He was an executive for Texaco Oil Company for 35 years, and also worked for Prudential Relocation Services in Shelton.

Skelly is survived by his children, Robert J. Skelly (and Pam) of Madison; Elizabeth Haag of Brightwaters, N.Y.; Joan Curto (and David) of Naperville, Ill.; Joseph Morrison Skelly of Stamford; and Marcy Patierno (Michael) of Wappingers Falls, N.Y.; and 11 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; wife, Marcia Ann Skelly; brother, Jack; and sisters, Eileen Hart and Patricia Newell.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m.  Friday, Aug. 16 at Saint Cecilia Parish, 1184 Newfield Ave. in Stamford. He will be interred alongside his wife, Marcia, at Saratoga National Cemetery in Saratoga, N.Y.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Robert M. Skelly, Siena College, Development and External Affairs Office, 515 Loudon Road, Loudonville, NY, 12211.
