Rita Mae Granelli, 87, Of Stamford, Retired Air Express Employee

STAMFORD, Conn. - Rita Mae Granelli of Stamford died Friday, Oct. 3. She was 87.

Granelli was born Oct. 26, 1926, in Stamford, to Thomas and Julia Gillespie Gavaghan. She was a lifelong Stamford resident having graduated from Stamford High School, Class of 1944. She worked for American Cyanamid during World War II and retired from Air Express in 1992 after 10 years of service. She was a member of the St. Leo’s Rosary Society.

Granelli is survived by her daughter, Sharon O’Reilly (Dennis); son, Edward E. Granelli, Jr. (Cathy) both of Stamford; five grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Irene Granelli of Stamford. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Edward Ernest Granelli; and sister, Marie Mallory.

Calling hours are Thursday, Oct. 9 from 7 to 9 p.m. at their home, 115 Akbar Road, Stamford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday Oct. 9 at St. Leo’s Parish, 24 Roxbury Road, Stamford. Interment will follow at St. John’s RC Cemetery, Darien.
