Richard Inzitari Of Stamford; Sales Leader Was Active In Youth Sports

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Richard "Inzi" Inzitari passed away surrounded by his family on Monday, Jan. 26.

Inzitari was born and raised in Stamford. Richard served in the United States Army and was a graduate of the Army's Leadership Academy. He worked for Edwards Signaling as a salesperson and sales manager for 33 years, and he won multiple Salesperson of the Year and President Awards before retiring.

Richard was a past president of both the Exchange Club of Stamford and the Umbrella Club of Fairfield County. He was inducted into the Stamford Old Timers' Athletic Association in 2010. Rich coached in the Stamford American Little League for more than 20 years and served as the league's president. He was also the president of Stamford Youth Basketball for 22 years.

Rich was a member of the Knights of Columbus and served on the board of Stamford Youth Soccer, Stamford Special Olympics and Stamford Exchange Club's Child Abuse Prevention Center.

He was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Anna Inzitari, and his brother Joseph, and sister-in-law Carol. He is survived by his wife, Johanna; and his two sons, Richard Jr. (Joday) and Jay (Liz); and two grandchildren.  He is also survived by his brother Michael Jr. and sister-in-law Linda.

Visitation will be held Monday, Feb. 2, from 3-7 p.m. at Shippan's Thomas M. Gallagher Funeral Home (next to Knights of Columbus) 453 Shippan Ave., Stamford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, at St. Bridget of Ireland Church, 278 Strawberry Hill Ave., Stamford. Burial will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Richard's honor be made to Yale Neurology c/o Dr. Duarte Machado, 800 Howard Ave., New Haven, CT 06519.
