Richard Cohen, Of Stamford, 79

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Ronald Cohen of Stamford died on Friday, Feb. 20. He was 79.  

He was born on Feb. 26, 1935, in Newark, N.J., to William and Irene Cohen.

His childhood and college years were spent in New Jersey, where he earned a B.S. in engineering from the Newark College of Engineering, now part of Rutgers University.

After graduating from college, his career took him to Pittsburgh, where he met his future wife, Lorraine. They were married for 54 years and raised three children together. He spent 31 years of his career working for IBM.

Cohen was a longtime active member of Temple Sinai and its Brotherhood. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who always placed his family first.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by their sons, Kenneth (Sherry) of Stamford, and Mark (Cheryl) Cohen of Santa Monica, Calif.; and their daughter, Amy (Martin) Kindler of West Harrison; and six grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Marlene Applebaum of Boyton Beach, Fla.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, at Temple Sinai of Stamford.
