Norman J. Salem, Jr., 59, Of Stamford, Insurance Underwriter

STAMFORD, Conn. - Norman J. Salem Jr., longtime resident of Stamford, died March 19, 2013. He was 59.

Salem was born in Providence, R. I., June 19, 1953, to Mary B. Salem and Norman J. Salem Sr. He graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 1976.

He was the founder and president of Manhattan Underwriting and has been an insurance underwriter for over 35 years.

Salem is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Angelica Mae and Lucas Alexander; brothers, Joseph Salem (Maria), James Salem (Joan); in-laws, Orlando L. and Maureen Savastano, Amy and Carl Benevides, Nancy Savastano, Jonathan Savastano; nieces and nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Norman.

Calling hours are Monday March 25 from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Gallagher Funeral Home, 2900 Summer Street Stamford. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday March 26 at St. Leo Roman Catholic Church, 24 Roxbury Road. Stamford.
