Nicolina Matilda Cardillo, 90, Former Longtime Stamford Resident

ANSONIA, Conn. - Nicolina Matilda Cardillo, of Ansonia and formerly of Stamford, died Sept. 24. She was 90.

Cardillo was born March 14, 1923, in Stamford, daughter of Ermano and Carmela Ciarleglio Morelli. She was a resident of Stamford for most of her life before moving to New London and then Ansonia.

Cardillo is survived by her son, Richard A. Cardillo of Ansonia; daughters Roseann Delaney of Virginia and Anita Backman of Ansonia; brother, Dominick Morelli of New Jersey; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a niece and a nephew. She was predeceased by her parents; and son, Anthony Cardillo.

There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Sept. 28, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church, 10 Father Salemi Drive in Ansonia. Her urn will be placed alongside her son in St. Mary's Mausoleum in New London at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions in Cardillo's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38101.
