Nancy Ellen Brejtfus-Giancola, 64, Of Stamford, Former Registered Nurse

STAMFORD, Conn. - Nancy Ellen Brejtfus-Giancola, 64, of Stamford, died Sunday, March 15, of Cushing’s syndrome and neuroendocrine cancer.

She was born July 9, 1950, in Fitchburg, Mass., to Stanley and Florence Grimley Brejtfus.

Brejtfus-Giancola worked as a registered nurse at the former Homestead Health Center Nursing Home in Stamford. She also worked for the Stamford Board of Health, where she was a public, private and parochial school nurse, oriented school nurses, and helped in community-based health programs for 24 years. She also was active in the nurses’ union and sick-bank management

Survivors include her husband, Nicholas Giancola Jr. of Stamford; two daughters, Kate (Christopher) Giancola-Enders of Cheshire, and Elizabeth (fiancé Michael Golove) Giancola of Trumbull; one sister, Jean (Kenneth) Robinson of Leominster, Mass.; extended family, Karen and Michael Piancenza, Ann and Lou Servideo, and Jon Giancola; and two grandchildren.

One brother-in-law, Paul Giancola, is deceased.

Calling hours are 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford.

A funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home at 9:10 a.m. on Thursday for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the St. Maurice Catholic Church, 358 Glenbrook Road, Stamford.

Interment will follow at the Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien.
