Maureen Ferrara-Higle, 66, Of Stamford; Musician And Teacher

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Maureen Ferrara-Higle, 66, a lifelong resident of Stamford, died  at Yale-New Haven Hospital on Tuesday, Dec. 16, due to complications of pulmonary hypertension.

Ferrara-Higle was born on May 2, 1948 to Vincent James and Marie Cerreta Ferrara. 

Ferrara-Higle was a musician and pianist. She was a gifted and in-demand performer, and continued to teach private piano lessons throughout her life, sharing her gift and love of music with people of all ages, both in this role, and as a long-time music teacher at Dolan Middle School. She was also active in the Schubert Club of Fairfield County, the Pulmonary Hypertension Group, and the Unitarian Church. Ferrara-Higle is survived by her sister Lynn Marie Ferrara-Penachio, stepchildren Alexander and Heather Higle, her nieces and nephew Jamie, Laura, Lisa and David, as well as her aunt, uncle and cousins. Besides her parents, Maureen was predeceased by her husband Peter Swain Higle.

Memorial services will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation on 20 Forest St. in Stamford on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015 at 1 p.m., with a reception following.
