Mary (Vinnie) McCauley, 90, Of Stamford

STAMFORD, Conn. – Mary (Vinnie) McCauley, 90, died Monday, May 18, at Bethel Health Care in Bethel, Conn.

McCauley was born May 22, 1924, in Stamford, to Samuel and "Jennie" Troncone. She attended St. John's school and graduated from Stamford High School in 1943. She was a very active community member in Stamford. She was an integral part of St. Maurice's church in Glenbrook, a member of the Democratic Women's Club as well as a member of St. Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary committee. She worked for the City of Stamford in numerous capacities. She was registrar of voters for 27 years, an elected position she held until her retirement in 1990. She was also a member of the Soroptomist Club and the Registrars Association in the State of Connecticut.

She is survived by two children, a daughter, Joanne (Mark) Torpey of Bethel, Conn.; a son, John (Paula) McCauley  of Dallas, Texas; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Esther Thomas of Stamford, Conn., and Madelyn Bradford of St. Petersburg, Fla.

She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, John McCauley and siblings, Carmine, Alphonso, and Samuel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, at 10 a.m. at St Maurice's Roman Catholic Church, 358 Glenbrook Road, Stamford. Interment will follow at St. John's Roman Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum, Darien. There will be no calling hours.

The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the arrangements.
