Mary Esther Hart, 97, Retired Reading Teacher For The City Of Stamford

STAMFORD, Conn. - Mary Esther Hart, a lifelong resident of Stamford, died July 9. She was 97.

Hart was born April 23, 1916, in Stamford, to John H. and Jane L. McNamara Hart. She was employed with the City of Stamford as a reading teacher for 40 years before her retirement. She received her BS from The New Haven State Teachers College, class of 1945 and received her Masters from the University of Bridgeport in 1961.

Hart is survived by several cousins. She was predeceased by her parents; twin sister, Sr. Elizabeth Hart of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas; and brothers, Harry and John Hart.

Calling hours are Thursday, July 11 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford, CT 06902 with a prayer service following at 10:30 a.m Interment will follow at St. John’s RC Cemetery, Darien.
