Marlene T. Lappots, 49, Of Stamford, Operated R & M Insurance

STAMFORD, Conn. - Marlene T. Lappots of Stamford died Oct. 20. She was 49.

Lappots was born May 1, 1965, to Olive Dennis and Levi Dennis in Kingston, Jamaica. She attended and graduated from Stamford High School. In high school, she worked at Robert Weiss & Co., as well as volunteered at St. Joseph Hospital. She was a longtime resident of Stamford. She attended the University of New Haven, after high school, where she earned a Bachelor Degree of Computer Science. She continued her employment with Robert Weiss & Co. for over 10 years, as an agent. Later she opened R & M Insurance in Stamford, which she operated for 18 years. She also helped her mother manage the family business, Caribbean Bakery and Mini Mart in downtown Stamford. She was a member of Bethany Church and volunteered her services at different organizations.

Lappots is survived by her son, Ryan; daughter, Reyana Lappots; sister, Marva; brothers, Devon and Carlton; many aunts, uncles; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Levi; and brother, Cyvon.

Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28 at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer St., Stamford. Church Service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29 at Bethany Church, 2 Scofieldtown Road, Stamford. A graveside service will be held at Spring Grove Cemetery, 41 Hecker Ave., Darien immediately following the church service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Church.
