Marie Taylor, 85, Longtime Stamford Resident

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Marie Griffin Taylor, 85, of Stamford, died Thursday, March 19.

Taylor was born on Dec. 31, 1929, in Newberry, S.C. She was the daughter of the late  Eugene and Bertha Griffin.

She graduated from Drayton Street High School in Newberry and moved to Stamford to pursue her career. She was married to the late Bruce "Pete" M. Taylor.

She is survived by a sister, Vera Griffin; sister-in-law Amelia Goss; daughters Brenda Taylor-Wright (Sam), of Norwalk and Barbara Chapman (Bobby) of Newberry, S.C; two grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. She also leaves extended family Ann, Kate, Carol, Janet, Sarah, several extended grandchildren and godchildren and by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was predeceased by three brothers, Morris Griffin, Bennie Griffin and Freddie Griffin; and by three sisters, Helen Glasgow, Azalee Fitchben and Lula Bookman.

Marie was a longtime member of Grace Baptist Church in Norwalk.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 27, at Grace Baptist Church, 17 West Ave., Norwalk. Visitation will be from 5:30-6:30 p.m. with a funeral service to commence at 6:30 p.m. Her committal service will be on Saturday morning, March 28, at 10 a.m. at Riverside Cemetery, 81 Riverside Avenue, Norwalk.

Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Ave., Stamford, is in charge of arrangements.
