Marie Brennan, Lifelong Resident Of Stamford, 88

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Marie C. Brennan, a lifelong resident of Stamford, died in her home on Sunday. She was 88.

Brennan was born in Springdale on Jan. 2, 1927, to Charles N. and Florence Chidsey. She graduated from Stamford High School.

Brennan, a devoted homemaker, channeled her energy into raising her five children. She volunteered her time and talents to her local parish, St. Cecilia's Roman Catholic Church, St Cecilia's Elementary School, St. Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary, Stamford Catholic High School, the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society. She was an active member of the Woodway Country Club for more than 60 years. 

She is survived by her five children, William H. Brennan III and his wife Cathryn of Mount Solon, Va., Terrence Brennan of Pompano Beach, Fla., Timothy Brennan and his wife Eileen of Trumbull Conn., M. Christine Brennan and her husband Bruce Omdahl, of Stamford, and Daniel P. Brennan and his wife, Antonia, of Stamford.

She is also survived by seven grandchildren, William H. Brennan IV and his wife Mary, of Ashburn, Va., Kelly, Robert and Michael Brennan of Trumbull, and Daniel, Joseph and Kaitlyn Brennan of Stamford.

She is also survived by two great grandsons Luke and Zachary Brennan of Ashburn, Va.

Brennan was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, William H. Brennan Jr., her brother, William James Chidsey of Springdale and two grandchildren, Christine and John Gregory Brennan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, at 10 a.m. at St. Cecilia's, 1184 Newfield Ave., Stamford. Burial will follow at St. John's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Darien. 

Visitation will be at Shippan's Thomas M. Gallagher Funeral Home, (next to the Knights of Columbus) 453 Shippan Ave., Stamford, on Friday, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
