Mae Montanaro, 91, Lifelong Stamford Resident

STAMFORD, Conn. — Lifelong Stamford resident Mae Montanaro died on Monday, June 6. She was 91.

Montanaro worked with special needs children as a teacher, then volunteered at the Tully Center where she retired some years ago. 

Montanaro is survived by her son, Paul Montanaro and his wife Tammy; her son, Jimmy Montanaro; her daughter, Janet Montanaro and her husband, Joseph Fusaro; her granddaughter, Jim Fusaro and his wife, Connie; her granddaughter, Jessica Potolicchio and her husband Joseph; her grandson, Dan Montanaro; her granddaughter, Janet Stark; her grandson, Jamie Black; and her great-grandchildren, Joseph and Luke Potolicchio, and Joseph Fusaro. 

Montanaro was predeceased by her husband, James P. Montanaro, her parents, Joseph Mancusi and Pauline Galasso Mancusi, her brother, Shay Mancusi, and her sisters, Katie Valenta, Lucy Donovan, and Grace D'Andrea. 

Relatives and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7 at the Lacerenza Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8 Schuyler Ave., in Stamford.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 8 at St. Cecilia's Church, 1184 Newfield Ave., in Stamford. 

Entombment will follow at St. John's Cemetery, in Darien.
