Madelyn Chambers, 69, Lifelong Stamford Resident

STAMFORD, Conn. - Madelyn “Mitzi” Chambers of Stamford died Tuesday, July 15. She was 69.

Chambers was born Oct. 3, 1944, in Stamford, to Gaetano “Gates” and Catherine Charton Tovino. She was a lifelong resident of Stamford and graduated from Wright Technical School, class of 1962.

Chambers is survived by her husband, Frank J. Chambers Sr.; children, Frank J. Chambers Jr. (Lisa), Cathy-Lu Ortega (Kevin), Kelly Pavia (Paul), Michael Chambers (Kathy); 10 grandchildren; sister, Kathy DelCarmine; brother-in-law, Larry Antonelli; sisters-in-law, Claire Chambers, Lucille Kurtzakowski (Bob), Vera Tovino and Ann Charton; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Guy Tovino and Lou Charton; sisters, Gail Somers, Michele “Shelly” Antonelli and Margo Mancuso; sister-in-law, Janice Isentol; brother-in-law, Tony DelCarmine; and her namesake, Madelyn “Mamen” Gerak (Mickey).

Calling hours are Sunday, July 20 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home Monday July 21 at 9:40 a.m. and proceed to St. Gabriel’s RC Church, 914 Newfield Ave., Stamford, for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Rockrimmon Road, Stamford.
