Louis M. Buzzeo, 100, Of Stamford

STAMFORD, Conn. – Louis M. Buzzeo, 100, died Wednesday, June 24.

Born in New York City on Nov. 20, 1914, he was the son of the late Antonio and Filomena Buzzeo.

He graduated from Stamford High School in 1932. He entered the postal service in Feb. of 1939 as a distribution and window clerk at the Stamford Post Office. He enlisted in the infantry of the U.S. Army in March 1941. He served overseas in the Pacific area from 1941 to 1942. He attended Officers' Candidate School at Fort Washington, Maryland, and was commissioned a second lieutenant in December of 1942. He was assigned to the Adjutant General's Office, Pentagon Building, Washington D.C. through 1946, and was separated from the service as a major.

While in the military service he attended the Adjutant General's School at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana, completed a three-year logistics course at the Army Command and Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, and attended courses given by the Army Industrial College and various Army management schools. He joined the U.S. Army Reserve and retired as a lieutenant colonel in 1974. He returned to the Stamford Post Office in June of 1946 as administrative assistant to the superintendent of mails.

He was the recipient of four superior accomplishment awards and in 1976, received the U.S. Postal Service Bicentennial Award.

He is predeceased by his wife, Sylvia Buzzeo and two sisters.

He is survived by a sister of Stamford and brother of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call Saturday, June 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Lacerenza Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8 Schuyler Ave., Stamford. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, June 27 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Ave., Stamford. Interment will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park, Oaklawn Avenue, Stamford.
