STAMFORD, Conn. Laura "Nana" Katz of Stamford died July 8 at Long Ridge of Stamford after a prolonged illness. She was 85.
Born June 19, 1927 in Brooklyn, N.Y., Katz was the daughter of Rose and Beryl Fefer. She graduated from New York University in 1947 and married David Katz on Aug. 6, 1949. After 35 years of marriage, David predeceased her after a long struggle with cancer.
Katz worked as a homemaker and co-owner of Finders Seekers antique store on Hope Street in Springdale. Before becoming sick two months ago, she lived in the reminiscence unit at Brighton Gardens of Stamford.
She is survived by two sons, Dr. Alan Katz of Great Neck, N.Y. and Sheldon Katz of Stamford, a daughter, Susan Stern of Sands Point, N.Y. and six grandchildren.
A funeral was held Tuesday at Leo P. Gallagher and Son Funeral Home in Stamford. Shiva will be observed at the home of Joan and Sheldon Katz from 5 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or a favorite charity.
