June Alice Gleason Fahey, 87, Of Stamford, Longtime Teacher

STAMFORD, Conn. - June Alice Gleason Fahey of Stamford died March 16. She was 87.

Fahey was born June 1, 1925. She grew up in Stamford attending school at St John's and Stamford High School. She received her degree in education from Danbury State Teachers College and spent many years teaching in Stamford.

During WWII she spent time supporting the effort by finishing gun grips as one of the many "Rosie the Riveters," in a factory in Stamford.

Fahey is survived by daughters Jill Birkett and Colleen Fahey of Stamford, and Moira Fahey-Ullrich of Winnetka, Ill; sons Chris Fahey of Glencoe, Ill., Kevin Fahey of Darien and Brian Fahey of Erie, Pa.; sons and daughters-in-law Michael Cavanaugh, William Birkett, Gene Ullrich, Ellen Hayes Fahey and Eileen Lynch Fahey; 15 grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Bea Gleason and Bonnie Gleason; and many cousins, friends and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Joe; daughter Janice Fahey Cavanaugh; and two brothers, Edward and Jack.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 23, 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 1189 Shippan Ave., Stamford with burial in St. John Cemetery in Darien.
