DePoli was born Jan. 12, 1923, in Stamford, to Maria (Giordano) and Abramo DePoli. He joined the U.S. Army with the 82nd Airborne as a paratrooper. Upon returning to civilian life after World War II, he worked for Schick, Inc. in Stamford. Shortly after Schick moved to Milford, he opened his first restaurant in Port Chester, N.Y., called Stardust. His last restaurant and catering business was The Regency in Stamford.
As a lifelong resident of the area, he was very active in the community. He hosted numerous golf tournaments and fundraisers for various charitable organizations. He was the founder and chairman emeritus of The Umbrella Club.
DePoli is survived by his wife, Margaret (Faugno) DePoli; daughters, Gayle DePoli and Maryann Coppola (Eliseo) (Lee); two grandsons; and three great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; and sisters, Angie and Betty.
Calling hours are Friday, Oct. 31 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Ave., in Stamford. A procession will leave the funeral home for a 1 p.m. memorial service at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Ave., in Stamford. Entombment will be private.
