Rua was born in Portugal, to Joao and Maria Rosa Rua. He worked for Roccie's Asphalt in Stamford for the last 35 years.
Rua is survived by his wife, Millie Rua; daughters, Dawn Christensen (Rich), Dana Scoran (Jon), Stacy Caschetto (Kyle); son, Joseph Rua (Karissa); three grandchildren; brothers, Miguel Rua (Amy), Antonio Rua from Bridgeport, Andre Rua (Kim) from France; sister, Maria Fatima Grasso from Bridgeport; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents.
Calling hours are Thursday, Oct. 16 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Parente-Lauro Funeral Home, 559 Washington Ave., Bridgeport. Funeral service will be held at 8 a.m. Friday, Oct. 17 at the funeral home and at 9 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 429 Huntington Road, Bridgeport with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford.
