Jeanne Ryerson Skeeter, 93, Of Stamford, School Crossing Guard

STAMFORD, Conn. - Jeanne Ryerson Skeeter of Stamford, formerly of New York City and Yonkers, died Aug. 28. She was 93.

Skeeter was born Oct. 15, 1919, in Peekskill, N.Y., to Carrie and William Ryerson. She grew up and went to elementary and high school in Yonkers. After her retirement from her work with the states of New York and Connecticut, she became a school crossing guard in Stamford. She worked for many years in child care at St. John's Episcopal Church.

Skeeter is survived by her brother, Alfred Nicko; a daughter, Sharyn Jeanne Skeeter; a grandson; and many nieces, nephews; cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Clarence Doyle Skeeter; a sister, Zell Winston; brothers, Donald DeMonde, Sr., and Emerson McCombs; and a son, Larry Doyle Skeeter.

Calling hours are from 6-8 p.m. Sept. 5 at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer St., Stamford. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 6 at St. John's Episcopal Church, 628 Main St., Stamford. Committal will follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Putnam Valley.
