James A. Nicoll, 89, Former Stamford WWII Vet

EASTON, Conn. – James Alexander Nicoll of Easton died Oct. 3 in Easton. He was 89. 

Born in Greenwich, he graduated from Greenwich High School. He lived in Stamford and worked for Laminated Shim Company before moving to Easton. Nicoll continued with the company after it became Alinabal of Milford until his retirement. 

A Navy veteran of World War II, he served on USS Lough destroyer escort and saw action in the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. 

Nicoll was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Mildred Britto Nicoll; and a son, Todd James Nicoll. He is survived by a son, Gregg A. (Thais) Nicoll, of Ocoee, Fla.; a daughter, Pamela J. Stevens and her fiancé, Denis Finn, of Easton; and five grandsons. 

The family will hold a private memorial. Spear-Miller Funeral Home in Fairfield is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society, 455 Post Road East, Westport, CT 06880.
