James M. O’Neill Sr., 80, Of Stamford, Owned O’Neill’s Garage

STAMFORD, Conn. - James “Jim” M. O’Neill Sr. of Stamford died Monday, Oct. 13. He was 80.

O’Neill was born Nov. 16, 1933, in Stamford, to John and Ellen O’Neill. He was a former employee of Getta’s Garage before purchasing the business in 1983 and making it O’Neill’s Garage. He also served in U.S. Navy.

O’Neill is survived by his wife, Virginia M. Harrington O’Neill of Stamford; sons, James M. O’Neill Jr. and John R. O’Neill both of Stamford; daughter, Cathy Ann Guglielmi (Mark) of Westport; and two grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; son, Joseph O’Neill; and sister, Maryalice Chodazeck.

Calling hours are Thursday, Oct. 16 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home Friday, Oct. 17 at 10 a.m. and proceed to St. Maurice RC Church, 358 Glenbrook Road, Stamford for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at St. John’s RC Cemetery, Darien.
